Proposals

This destination leisure scheme will provide brand new entertainment facilities, helping to boost Southend-on-Sea town centre as a vibrant place for people to live, work, shop and relax.

We hope you were able to attend our public consultation event on the 16th December to see the proposed site layout. If not, visit the Downloads page to see what we displayed.

The proposed development will include:

— A brand new state-of-the-art eleven screen Empire cinema
— A new multi-storey car park, increasing the parking available on the site
— Restaurants and cafés, offering a much wider range of different cuisine
— A new public square, enhancing the historic setting of St John the Baptist Church
— Active indoor leisure uses, such as rock climbing wall and a gym
— An eighty room Travelodge hotel

— New coach drop-off and collection on Lucy Road, with coach parking retained on site

The project is expected to generate 450 jobs and would create amenities that will attract new visitors to the area. The development would help to further stimulate growth and draw custom to existing local businesses in Southend-on-Sea’s town centre.

The proposals have seen major national brands such as Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito looking to invest in the town and open their first restaurants here. Seaway Leisure will provide fun and entertainment for the whole family.
