The site is located east of the High Street and next to the Royals Shopping Centre. The site, which is currently a surface car park with 475 car parking spaces and 36 coach spaces, is also close to the sea front and many of Southend’s popular leisure destinations.
The main site is north of Lucy Road and east of Herbert Grove. It also includes the Rossi Ice Cream Factory on Herbert Grove where a new public square will be created. The square will provide an important visual link between the new development and the historic St John the Baptist Church.
The redevelopment of the Seaway Car Park, being so accessible from the high street, seafront and by all forms of transport, will give visitors a greater choice of restaurants and leisure facilities in the heart of Southend-on-Sea. The proposals seek to boost the local economy and contribute to the regeneration of the town centre - helping make Southend-on-Sea an ideal place to live, work, shop and relax.
